Things I Understand Now was originally created as part of the Cartoonists for Gaza action in August 2025.

Launched by UK cartoonists Rachael Ball and Krent Able, the project invited artists to use the power of illustration to express outrage and raise awareness of the crisis in Gaza.

Each artist encouraged donations to a number of organisations on the ground in Gaza including - the UNICEF Gaza Appeal, Medical Aid for Palestinians and the Disasters Emergency Committee.
